Are You Ready? | Week 1 Devotional

This message is created from Ps Dan’s message Get Set: Ready in Heart.

Day 1: Preparing for God's Promises

Reading: Joshua 3:1-17

Devotional: Just as the Israelites prepared to enter the Promised Land, God often calls us to prepare our hearts before He moves powerfully in our lives. Today's passage reminds us that consecration precedes breakthrough. Reflect on areas of your life where you're waiting for God to move. How can you use this time to prepare your heart? Consider ways you can dedicate yourself more fully to God's purposes. Remember, waiting seasons are preparing seasons. Ask God to show you how He's shaping your character during this time.

Day 2: Living as a Living Sacrifice

Reading: Romans 12:1-2

Devotional: Paul calls us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, which is our true and proper worship. This echoes the theme of consecration from Joshua 3:5. Today, consider what it means to be a "living sacrifice." How can you surrender every aspect of your life - your time, talents, relationships, and resources - to God? Remember, consecration isn't just about avoiding sin, but actively dedicating your whole self to God's purposes. Pray for the strength to continually re-dedicate yourself to God, even when it's challenging.

Day 3: Seeking First the Kingdom

Reading: Matthew 6:25-34

Devotional: Jesus teaches us to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness. This aligns with the concept of consecration - setting ourselves apart for God's purposes. Reflect on your priorities. Are you seeking God's kingdom first, or are worldly concerns taking precedence? Consider practical ways you can reorient your life to put God's kingdom first. Remember, when we surrender our worries and seek God's kingdom, He promises to provide for our needs.

Day 4: Obedience and God's Power

Reading: Acts 5:17-32

Devotional: In this passage, the apostles demonstrate courageous obedience in the face of opposition. Like the priests stepping into the Jordan in Joshua 3, their obedience opened the way for God's power to be displayed. Reflect on areas where God might be calling you to step out in obedience. Are there any "flood waters" in your life that seem insurmountable? Remember, our obedience often precedes God's miraculous work. Pray for the courage to obey, even when it doesn't make sense from a human perspective.

Day 5: Humility and Revival

Reading: 2 Chronicles 7:11-22

Devotional: This passage outlines God's response when His people humble themselves, pray, and turn from their wicked ways. It echoes the idea that revival begins when the church falls on its knees. Today, spend time in humble prayer for yourself, your church, and your community. Confess any areas where pride has crept in. Ask God to bring revival, starting with your own heart. Remember, God's promise to hear, forgive, and heal is contingent on our humility and repentance. Pray for a spirit of humility to permeate your life and your church.
