Look Here Is Water | Devotional

Day 1: God Pursues the One

Reading: Luke 15:1-7

Devotional: Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep, showing how the shepherd leaves the 99 to find the one. This mirrors God's heart for individuals, just as He sent Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch. Reflect on times when you've felt lost or alone. How does it feel to know that God actively pursues you? Consider how you might extend this same pursuing love to someone in your life who feels overlooked or marginalized.

Day 2: The Gospel is for Everyone

Reading: Acts 10:34-48

Devotional: Peter's realization that God shows no favoritism challenges us to examine our own biases. The Ethiopian eunuch, despite being a foreigner and outsider, was welcomed into God's family. How might God be calling you to expand your understanding of who "belongs" in His kingdom? Pray for eyes to see others as God sees them, and for courage to cross social or cultural boundaries to share God's love.

Day 3: Finding Peace in Christ

Reading: Philippians 4:4-9

Devotional: The Ethiopian official had wealth and status, yet lacked peace until he encountered Jesus. Paul encourages us to bring everything to God in prayer and experience His peace that transcends understanding. What anxieties or worries are you carrying today? Practice bringing these to God, exchanging your burdens for His peace. How might this peace change your approach to challenging situations?

Day 4: A Living Hope

Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9

Devotional: Peter speaks of a living hope through Christ's resurrection. The Ethiopian eunuch went away rejoicing, filled with new hope. Reflect on areas in your life where hope feels distant. How does the reality of Christ's resurrection and the promise of new life in Him speak into those situations? Consider writing a prayer of thanksgiving for the living hope you have in Christ.

Day 5: Responding to the Gospel

Reading: Romans 10:9-15

Devotional: The Ethiopian eunuch's immediate response was to be baptized. Paul emphasizes the importance of confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection. How have you responded to the gospel in your life? Are there areas where you're hesitating to fully commit to Christ? Pray for courage to take your next step of faith, whether that's baptism, serving others, or sharing your faith with someone in your life.
